It will take 15 to 20 min walk.<br>\u00b7Vehicle is prohibited inside the land of Kuonji temple. The decorative plaque calligraphed by the 36th Successor Niccho Shonin with the message \u201cKai-E-Kan\u201d literally indicates the Passage for All to Liberation under the Lotus Sutra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_sanmon\">Temple Gate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/sanmon.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>The gate symbolizes the Three Gates of Liberation: \u201cEmptiness\u201d, \u201cFormlessness\u201d and \u201cDesirelessness\u201d and upholds a calligraphy plaque \u201cMinobusan\u201d drawn by the 79th Successor Nichiji Shonin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_bodaitei\">Bodai-tei (Ladder of Buddhahood)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/bodaitei.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>A 287-step stone path provides access from the Temple Gate to the Main Hall, where the top, representing Nirvana, is divided into seven sections, evoking the seven letters comprising Odaimoku.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_gojunoto\">Five-Story Pagoda<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/gojunoto.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>Restored in May 2009, 134 years after it was destroyed in a great fire in 1875. Made of 100% national wood products, the pagoda is a complete restoration of the original, using a design and construction method identical to that used four centuries ago.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Barrier-Free Cart Paths<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cart paths connecting buildings facilitate travel around the precincts for physically-challenged visitors. Completed as part of the adjunct construction project to the Five-Story Pagoda in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Slope Elevator<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Completed as part of the 2009 Five-Story Pagoda additional project, the slope elevator eliminates the need to use steps to access the temple yard directly from the \u201cSeishin Parking Area\u201d located in Nishidani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_hondo\">Main Hall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/hondo.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>Rebuilt as the major part of the Nichiren Shonin 700th Anniversary Project in 1985, the hall measures 32 meters wide by 51 meters deep and can accommodate 2500 service attendees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_soshido\">Founder\u2019s Memorial Hall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/soshido.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>The hall enshrines the spirit of Nichiren Shonin and is also known as \u201cSeishin-kaku\u201d (a dwelling place for the divine soul). A temple building once located in Edo (today Tokyo) was moved and rededicated as the hall in 1881.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_ho-onkaku\">Ho-on-Kaku (Return Goodness) House<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Constructed as part of the celebration project for the 750th Anniversary of Order Founding, the hall includes a reception and lounge areas for followers and one of the main features is a barrier-free design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"my_goshinkotsudo\">Founder\u2019s Ossuary &amp; Worship Hall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/goshinkotudo.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>The area comprises a white octagonal ossuary and an attached worship hall. The ossuary enshrining the remains of Nichiren Shonin is equipped with the latest disaster-proof designs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading _hide\">&#8220;Gobyo-sho&#8221; : Founder&#8217;s Heritage Site \/ Mausoleum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns _hide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/sobyo.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p><strong>Founder&#8217;s Hermitage Site<\/strong><br>The site of the hermitage where Nichiren Shonin spent his nine years of devotion; reciting the Lotus Sutra and training his disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Founder&#8217;s Mausoleum<\/strong><br>The mausoleum encases a five-element pagoda, built upon the passing of Nichiren Shonin and a cabinet located underground to enshrine portions of his remains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"\u5fa1\u8349\u5eb5\u8de1\">Thousand Cedar Trees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The wood is one of the most magnificent natural beauties Minobusan can provide. Over 40 meters high, it is a designated natural monument in Yamanashi Prefecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading _hide\" id=\"\u7956\u5edf\">&#8220;Shishin-Kaku&#8221; : Parents&#8217; Remembrance Hall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns _hide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/okunoin.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>Even on windy or rainy days, Nichiren Shonin would climb Mt. Minobu to remember his deceased parents. This hall is located at the mountain top and alongside its precincts, bordered by a gate featuring a pair of Nio (or fearsome-faced) Guardian statues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading _hide\" id=\"\u7956\u5edf\">&#8220;Shichimenzan&#8221; : Mt. Shichimen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns _hide is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wpmk22\/wp-content\/themes\/kuonji-custom\/assets\/img\/precincts\/shichimenzan.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-bottom is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<p>The mountain is a sanctuary located to the west of Mt. Minobu, topped off with Keishinin Temple, where Shichimen Daimyojin or the protective deity of the Lotus Sutra is enshrined.
